Brought to you by entertwine & WOCunite.
We’re excited to announce that entertwine is partnering with WOCunite to host a very horr-ible “48 hour horror film festival” for women of color to showcase their scary chops.
(No pun intended.)
What are the participation requirements?
Teams are invited to participate if:
(A) Everyone on the team is 18 years of age or older.
(B) At least half of the team are women of color identifying.
Note: Teams may be as big or small as you wish.
How much are the festival dues?
No dues. We’re all about accessibility and inclusion here, as such there is no fee to participate.
How can you participate?
Team registration opens Friday, Sept. 24th, 2021 and close Wednesday, Sept. 29th, 2021.
At this time we are not able to accommodate individuals who are in need of a team.
When does the 48 hours begin?
The 48 hour festival will kick off at 9PM PST on Friday, October 1st.
We will be emailing the required elements that each film must possess at that time.
That’s your cue to start filmmaking – get lost in the genre, be as spooky and gorey as you like. Scare us silly!
Just be sure your film is between 3-5 minutes long.
What’s the deadline to submit the completed film?
All films must be in by 9 PM PST on Sunday, October 3rd.
(We suggest giving yourself a bit of a grace period. Films submitted after the 48 hours will be automatically disqualified. And none of us want that.)
What happens at the end of the 48 hours?
From Oct. 3rd-16th, qualifying shorts will be voted on by our film critics.
Ten shorts will be selected as our Finalists.
Finalists will be debuted with our streaming partner.
When are the top winners announced?
On Halloween, Oct. 29th at 5PM PST.
1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize will be announced at our premiere Halloween Party.
What are the prizes?
All qualifying films will receive prizes for their submission.
The 10 most-voted-on films will then be shown to our panel of judges and be streamed with our partner.
These judges will determine our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
The winning teams will be given festival sponsorships, tickets, cash prizes, and more.
(Check back for more information regarding prizes in the next coming weeks.)
Last but not least:
Why horror? And why must teams be women-led?
Because not all women like romcoms…
Some women like bloody, scary, jump-out-of-your-seat movies that give you nightmares for a week.
And the horror genre has traditionally left WOC out of the conversation.
We’re here to change that.
Which is why, we can’t wait to see your work and get nightmares from it.
Registration for teams opens Friday, September 24th.
