entertwine’s 24 hour writing contest

entertwine is hosting a 24 hour writing contest for scriptwriters and playwrights in the Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community.

How to participate:

Requirements: May 29, at noon pst, we’ll email AND post on our socials 5 secret you’ll need to have in your play/screenplay.

You’ll then have 24 hours to write a short script or play (10 pages maximum) that includes all 5 of our secrets.

Submission Deadline: May 30th , at noon pst — submit your short piece as a pdf to our submission link (to be revealed May 29th). Make sure to include: a title page with the genre of the piece, your name, your pronouns, and what state/country your reside.

A diverse panel will review the pieces and choose 10 pieces to be read live on Clubhouse!

Pieces chosen will also be posted on our site and a few will be chosen for bigger productions.

Our goal is to provide space for the Asian-American and Pacific Islander community to shine in their creativity.

In 2020, the AAPI community began to speak out about the abuse they experience due to racially charged rhetoric surrounding COVID-19. But the issue didn’t receive widespread attention until the Atlanta Spa shootings got nationwide media coverage in March. Eight people were killed in the mass shooting, six of whom were of Asian descent.

At entertwine, a key component of our mission is to amplify the voices of the silent. That’s why we’ll be making space for AAPI voices with our first writing competition of the year.

If you’re not a member of this community, but still want to support you can donate to the AAPI communities fighting against hate. #stopasianhate #stopaapihate #hateisavirus

There is no fee to enter. Register below:
