entertwine will be hosting a 24-hour writing contest for Asian and Pacific Islander (AAPI) scriptwriters and playwrights.

Our goal is to provide space for the AAPI community to shine in their creativity

How does it work?

On June 3rd 5pm PT/8pm ET, you will receive an email with “5 Secrets” that you will need to include in your play/screenplay. You will then have 24 hours to write and submit a short script or play (10-page maximum, 5 character limit).

If your script is multilingual, please provide an English translation/subtitle.

How to submit?

Submit your piece as a PDF to our submission link (sent via email on June 3rd).

What to include?

  • A title page with your piece’s genre
  • Your name
  • Your pronouns
  • What state are you in?

All projects will be reviewed using the rubric below:

  • Were the “5 Secrets” incorporated?
    • “That’s not how you ride a bicycle”
    • Explosion of color
    • Superstitions
    • International Waters
    • Street Food
  • Is the piece shorter than 10 pages?
  • Is the piece spell-checked and grammatically sound?
  • Screenplay or a play format.

  • Is the writer a member of the AAPI community?
  • Is the piece an original work?
  • Does the piece leave you craving more?

  • Is the dialogue engaging?
  • Does the dialogue propel the story forward?

  • Is the plot clear and easy to follow?
  • Does the piece contain conflict?
  • Does the piece contain a clear beginning, middle, and end?

We have attached 2 scripts for your structural reference. These are for people who would like to participate are unfamiliar with play/screenplay structure.
